Area, Volume, Count and Sketch to Scale0.26.0

Area, Volume, Count, the cutouts and Sketch to Scale are on for everyone. Revu shows the measurements the sheet shows. An exported PDF is deleted after a day, a filled-in New project asks before it is thrown away, and dragging a markup to the edge of the screen scrolls the sheet.

What’s new

Highlights

Area, Volume, Count, cutouts and Sketch to Scale

These tools were on for review and are now on in production: Area, Volume, Count, Polygon Cutout, Ellipse Cutout, and Sketch Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon and Polyline. Dynamic Fill stays in review, so it is still off on layrbuild.app.

Revu shows the measurements the sheet shows

A measurement's caption in Revu follows the Measurements chip: the total when that row is on, Area, Perimeter and Volume from the rows that are on, and segment lengths when those are on. The caption uses the readout's size and color. Sketch to Scale exports as Revu's own Sketch tools and imports back as those tools, including an Ellipse Sketch. Dashes are Revu's six dash types. Angle end caps travel with the angle. A volume on a feet-and-inches sheet opens in Revu at that sheet's scale; the same volume could read 108,000 cu ft for 125. An Area's cutouts go out as Revu cutouts, and a Diameter's end ticks are in the file.

Exported PDFs are deleted after a day

Print, Save PDF and Email still hand you a link that lasts an hour. The stored file is now removed a day after the export. The record of that export stays, so bringing the PDF back in can still tell which markups it carried. A cleanup that fails is logged and does not fail the export you are waiting on.

New project asks before it discards what you entered

Once the form has a project name, a bid date or time you changed, an engineer's estimate, or any files, Cancel, Escape and a click outside ask first. The prompt names what would be lost, and Keep editing is where the keyboard starts. An empty form still closes. Dragging from inside the form out onto the dimmed page does not close it.

The sheet scrolls while you drag a markup

After a markup has started to move — its body, a handle, a resize, or a copy — taking the pointer to the edge of the screen, onto the toolbar or onto a side panel scrolls the sheet and keeps the markup under the cursor. On a drawing, letting go over that chrome drops it there. On a spec page the book scrolls, and only until the page you are marking meets the pointer.

An outline row selects that markup

Clicking a markup in the outline selects it on the sheet, handles included, and the row stays lit. The view stays put when the markup is already on screen. If it is off screen, the sheet pans to center it. If it is bigger than the view, the view zooms to fit. A markup with no stored name is listed by its tool and its place on the sheet, such as Area 2. That label is not written onto the markup, so the sheet still shows no name pill.
